As part of Manchester International Festival 2019, Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama presented his first major exhibition in the UK.
‘Parliament of Ghosts’ depicts Ghana’s journey from a British colony to an independent nation.
The Little Greene shade ‘Shirting’ (129) was selected for the exhibition. This classic heritage white is pure without optical brightener, the perfect backdrop to accentuate pieces of art.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is a Parliament built using old school cabinets and worn train seats from railway lines which transported the country's exports including cocoa, manganese, and timber.
Another room displays paintings and photographs alongside textiles and wood traces gathered from Ghana’s urban environment.
Also exhibited is sculpture and film, which contextualises this period of transition as the people of Ghana asserted their independence.
The exhibition runs until 29th September 2019. Click here to find out more.
