Wall: Oak Apple, Skirting: Loft White

Our Absolute Matt is the ideal choice for both walls and ceilings in low-traffic living spaces, bedrooms and studies where beauty is key. With an extremely low sheen level of just 3%, Absolute Matt has a beautifully flat, pigment-rich appearance, allowing for colours that subtly change in varying lights.

Quick-drying and virtually odourless, Absolute Matt is high in opacity, making it easy to apply so you can complete your project quickly with minimal disruption. The high-pigment levels within the paint provide a rich depth of colour which means you’ll need fewer coats to achieve the perfect finish.

Wall: Baked Cherry, Dado Rail: Cordoba, Lower Wall: Invisible Green

When painting a wall with our Absolute Matt, we recommend following the steps below:

Preparing Walls

Patchy or friable walls and new plaster, including skimmed walls and ceilings are best prepared using our Wall Primer Sealer. This sealer will take up the porosity of the surface and provide a uniform base on which to paint any of our water-based finishes.

Painting Previously Painted Walls & Ceilings

  • Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and grease free
  • Remove all loose and flaking paintwork using sugar soap before rinsing with clean water
  • For a significant colour change, apply Little Greene ASP tinted to your chosen topcoat shade to ensure full depth of colour
  • Apply the first coat of paint evenly.
  • Leave to dry for four hours before applying a second coat of Absolute Matt Emulsion, the wall will be surface dry within one hour.

Painting Bare Plaster Walls & Ceilings

  • Allow at least four weeks for new plaster to dry.
  • Lightly wash the walls to remove any dust prior to application.
  • All plaster walls require a mist primer coat of paint by thinning Absolute Matt Emulsion with a 5-25% addition of clean water depending on the porosity of the substrate.
  • Stir the paint thoroughly before use.
  • Two full coats of Absolute Matt Emulsion are recommended to achieve full depth of colour.
  • Recoat after four hours by applying a second coat of Absolute Matt Emulsion. The wall will be surface dry within one hour.
